1' ' 455-E' :EFX 'find The Froid High School's music department was very well represented at the annual Music Festival which was held in Plentywood, April 18, 1958. The Mixed Chonis received a rating of EXCEL- LENT on their number Good News. Everyone of the girls returned home with smiles for the Girls' Chorus received a SUPERIOR rating on Prayer Per- fect, and the Triple Trio was presented with a SUPERIOR rating for their selection The Halls of Ivy. The adjudicator for this event was Mr. Paul Christianson, music instructor at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota. Mr. Christianson also di- rected the Mass Chorus rehearsal in the afternoon and the Concert which was presented in the evening at 7:30. Mr. Charles MacKenzie was in charge of direct- ing the Boys' Chorus and Mrs. Margaret Mclvor was aw 11 S xg 501' N EN O Nix I N! 4,4 ak ,y v v lm X G 1, X316 XX ' xx G yy W' . if given the privilege of directing the Girls' Chorus. Schools participating in this years Music Festival were Culbertson, Plentywood, Antelope, Medicine Lake, Outlook and Froid. The members of the Froid School Band partici- pated in the Band Festival which was held in the Medicine Lake Gymnasium March 28, 1958. The band performed at 8:45 and was presented the rating of EXCEL- LENT on their selection of Purple Horizons. Mr. Gangware, director of music Bimidgi College, Bimidgi, Minnesota, was this years adjudicator. His comments were that the band was fine looking with lots of pep and spirit and the stage appearance, discipline, and volume was excellent. Much credit is due to Mr. Charles Mac- Kenzie, director, for this fine rating. The afternoon hours were spent rehearsing for an evening performance by only a few members of each band. Members from Froid included Norma Becker, Ardyce McNeil, Florence Bakken, Pat Slevin, Sandra Sundvold, Judy Becker, Jo Carol Hippe, Clarice Bakken, Kathy Reiter, and James Ostby. The Select Band presented their Concert that evening with many from Froid attending. The schools participating in this annual Band Festival were Culbertson, Froid, Medicine Lake, Antelope, Flaxville, and Plentywood, All the members of the Froid Band look forward to the Band Day in Williston, North Dakota every year. This year the date was May 17, 1958. Out of approximately 50 participating bands Froid was number 8 in the parade which started at 10:00. Despite the rather windy weather, each band per- formed a Concert in the park, which is always something for the spectators to look forward to. The Froid Band E Played several selections at 3r20. Also at this time the S Froid Hostess was presented with a gift from the band 'R members for her courtesy and guidance. il Again this year the Williston Chamber of Commerce provided every band member with free tickets for sand- if wiches and pop which was served at the new Williston ,ii i if Armor .
