Um -4' Mrs. Agnes Kveseth and Mrs. Svend Bertelsen were our faithful cooks again this year. Our hot lunch program fed about 130 students every day. Other than the commodities received from the government and donations of food from people of the community, this program supports itself. Two International Harvester deep freezers were installed and about fifty new dishes were purchased. Considerable canning and freezing has been done throughout the year. The senior class donated S50 towards the purchase of dark shades for movies for the lunchroom and this should add to the appearance of the room.

aacbfa- eacbfapfzom The junior-senior prom and banquet took place on Saturday evening, May 8. The banquet was held in the school lunchroom at 6:00 p.m. The seniors, juniors, school board members, faculty members, and Reverend and Mrs. Mark Emswiler were present at this annual affair. Six sophomores served the delicious turkey dinner which the junior mothers had prepared. Reverend Mark Emswiler began the banquet program with a blessing. Several speeches were given and Superintendent G. N. Anderson sang a solo, Sweet Lilauni. Prom-goers gathered at the gym at 9:30 to begin dancing. The back wall of the gym was decorated with a Hawaiian scene drawn by Connie Bergh. One side of the gym represented a ship while the other was a mountain range. Les Cooper's orchestra sat in a hut which was in keeping with the theme, 'Hawaiian Cruise. Leading the grand march was Dennis Paulson, junior class president, and his date, Margaret Ryder. Following them were Jim Westberg, senior class president, and his date, Leona Luebke. During intermission a floor show was presented: Ervin Bakken sang Hootchy Kootchy Henry ac- companied by Harlow Strandlund. The junior girls sang Hawaiian War Chant with Winnie Grovom as the hula girl. Connie Bergh and Naoma Buckendahl accompanied them with their ukeleles. Roger Bertel- sen sang My Isle of Golden Dreams, accompanied by Winnie Bertelsen, and Superintendent G. N. Anderson sang Blue Hawaii, accompanied by Mary Jane Darland. Dancing was resumed after intermission and continued until 1:30 a.m. 1 Wonderful cooks! They served us.
