m Mr. Alcorn and Mr. Put taught us how to make things with our hands. At first it was like what Bill Cosby said: Every- thing turned out to be an ashtray . . . but we progressed. Later came lamps, shelves, candle- holders, which Mom actually put where people could see them . . . 26

Sometimes it seemed like fun sitting at the picnic tables and aiming our wrappers at the garbage cans. We seldom hit . . . and ended up being messy. So ... we serioused up and TRASHIS (Dave) BEAUTIFUL (Gallo) showed us how. We did a good job the rest of the year being untrashy, and we could really feel proud of our campus. It was clean. CLEAN IS BEAUTIFUL.
