V -•sili 1 As we look forward to happy days in a new school, the hammer of the wrecking-crew will never destroy the memories of days spent in the old building. We hope that the construction of a new building may inspire new goals and pride in our school and community. The Staff of the Panorama” expresses its wish for a bright, productive future for all students re- minding them that our community is in reality a reflection and product of our school. We hope that in the ensuing pages we may cap- ture a few moments of the past and give an in- sight into the future. '7a6le (2 «teKt4 Administration Seniors Classes Athletics Activities 'DetUcctfctut r' To Arthur Hood, the Staff of the Panorama dedicates the 1957 volume of our Yearbook. We are not inappreciative of his guidance and counsel in his capacity as teacher and Vice-Principal during twenty-one years of service. Without his understanding and help, many a con- fused and forlorn science student might have been lost. His as- sistance in our social and academic activities is something we may well remember long after we have left school and we may then look back upon it in a grateful manner. 4 Robert H. I, Bob Burdick, King of the Seniors, leave my crown to next year’s king. I, Duane Burrows, leave my editorship of the Spy to anyone who has patience. I, Rose Cimbricz, leave my dancing ability to David Heary. I, Ward Clark, leave Donette to no one. I, Kathleen Cummins, leave American History for good. I, Karen Dunning, leave my engagement ability to Glenda Skinner. I, Fordus Easton, leave after talking to Dr. Pohl. 1, Ellen Foster, leave my farm home on East Hill to go roaming. I, Dolores Hall, leave my brother to anyone who likes whiskers. I, Hank Hameister, leave Wilma, but not willingly. I, Eric Hooker, leave Mr. Hood's movie projector to Loren Weir. I, Frances Johnson, leave with the joy of having many friends. I, Erma Jordan, leave my Washington memories to next year’s Seniors. I, Dick Kordish, leave my sister, Betty, to Bill Swarthout. I, Ellen McMahon, leave Mr. Mancuso to solve his own problems in Problems class. I, Carolyn Murray, leave my half of Wellsville to Judy Lane. I, Pete Schwab, leave my cow-milking chores to John Stuck. I, Joan Shelley, leave to the sound of wedding bells. I, Susan Snyder, leave my musical ability to Gerald Hadsell. I, Clarence Stephens, leave my muscles to Dwain Howell. I, Jeanne Whitwood, leave for Washington. I, Jeanette Williams, leave my ability to care for children to Yvette Paquin. Collectively we leave our banged-up lockers, artistically decorated desks, properly inscribed texts, and a faculty slightly the worse for wear to next year’s Seniors. We would leave our memories of four years in high school, but these we have decided to retain. 17 4 95% CLASS OFFICERS President........Judy Lane Vice President . .John Pierce Secretary........Patricia Cummins Treasurer........Norma Herrick Advisors.........Mr. and Mrs. Robert Bums FIRST ROW: Eva Hadsell, Beverly Lamb, Alice Hart, Lois Wright, Yvette Paquin, Judy Lane, Sylvia Storms, Patricia Garmong, Barbara Pettnot. CAROL BAXTER Director . . . Miss MARIAN WALLACE 41 Student ouHCtC The purpose of our Student Council is to discuss and to act upon problems which may arise during the school year. Furthermore, it acts as a clearing house for the activities of the Social, Assembly and Athletic Committees. When these Committees fail to function, the Student Council has no reason to meet. In any event, however, it cannot act effectively without the support of the student body. As in any representative organization, the Council can only represent such wishes as are expressed by the stu- dents. In many instances the Student Council has been criticized for lack of action in the face of a speci- fic problem. Often the problem is one which should have handled by one of the existing Committees. Failure on the part of that group to assume its obligation often escapes the attention of the student body. Occasionally the Council is asked to consider a matter which is possibly outside the realm of student re- sponsibility. Too often the students who are most critical are those who will not cooperate with the Student Council or the Administration of the school. It must also be pointed out that problems brought to the attention of the Council have no ready- made or easy solutions. The Council is not an automatic cure-all. The student body can make the Student Council a more effective and workable unit by selecting more carefully its members, under- standing its role in the school and becoming actively interested in all its proceedings.
