As part of the booming city of Wichita, Friends Uni- versity is growing to keep pace. Externally, a beautiful fine arts building has grown from a blueprint to a reality. Working together, students have been able to build a student lounge of which they can be proud. But Friends University is building in other less noticeable ways which we tend to forget. Using the bricks of scholarship, athletics, and social activities surrounding a cornerstone of Christian ideals, Friends U. is building men and women who are engineered to stand as landmarks in Wichita and -society everywhere. To You We Dedicate DR. ROBERT R. MEYERS R The Meyers family fleft to rightl: Mrs. Billie Meyers, Karen Kay, 15, Devon Dee, 5, Robin Rex, l2, and Dr.-Robert Meyers. ln a time when everyone seems to be preoccupied with himself and his own problems, it is refreshing to find someone who has a vital interest in everyone and everything around him. Dr. Robert R. Meyers is iust such a person. As an English professor at Friends, he passes on his enthusiasm to his students. Dr. Meyers' rather illustrious experiences include study at Oxford University, editing the Daily Free-Lance, a small Oklahoma newspaper, and public speaking. He received his BA. degree in l948 from Abilene Christian College, graduating summa cum laude. He received his M.A. from the University ot Oklahoma in l950, and his Ph.D. from Washington University in l957. He has been on the faculty at Friends University since 1960. Dr. Meyers seems to have an interest in his students. Because he cares about us, we dedicate the l965 Talisman to Dr. Robert R. Meyers. . TALISMAN ' 65 4
