MEET PRESIDENT RAY Dr. Roy Ray began the current school year as interim president, but before the year was over, Friends University welcomed him as her ninth president. Dr. Ray came to the Wichita area in T956 as the organizing pastor of St. Mark's Presbyterian Church in Haysvillepln l96O, he began teaching in the philosophy department at Friends U. on a part-time basis. A graduate of Bethany Nazarene College, Dr. Ray received his Bachelor of Divinity in T949 and his Doctor of Divinity in T958 from Central Baptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, Kan- sas. His dissertation was on the relationship of the church-related colleges to the church. Civicvand community affairs have received much of Dr. Ray's interest since coming to Wichi- ta. He served as chairman of the Campus High School organizing committee in T957 and was president of the, Campus High School board from i958 until 1962. A Dr. Rlay is married to the former Delma Walker of Cushing, Oklahoma. They have two daughters, Carol and Dorothy. ' ' ' We wont to offer a sincere welcome to the new first family of Friends U. The Friends University Board of Directors has had a busy year. Without their progressive efforts, our year would have been much less successful. Under their auspices,the construc- tion of our new Fine Arts Center is nearing completion. Due to their untiring efforts, we have a new, energetic president, Dr. Roy Ray. The Board is made up of representatives from each Quarterly Meeting of the Kansas Yearly Meeting ot Friends plus several members at large. This 38-member board is re- sponsible for the top decisions of our Christian, church-related college. PAUL BROWN Chairman Board of Directors
