Roberts Last February 12, Dr. Lowell Roberts announced his resignation as President of Friends University. Thus, on August 31, 1964, Dr. Roberts will termin- ate 20 years of active service to his alma mater. Dr. Roberts ioined the Friends University staff in 1944 Gs Head of the Bible Department, became lnterim President in October, 1956, and President in September 1957. During his presidency, the aver- age tenure of faculty increased, and salaries rose more than in any other eight years in the College's history. Entrance requirements were tightened, and Friends was the first school in Kansas to make entrance examinations compulsory. Two new residence halls were constructed in 1958. Pledges toward a Fine Arts Building have now passed the S400,000 mark, and construction is scheduled to start in the late spring. President Roberts wlll be missed by all for both his very capable handling ofa difficult iob and the warm, pleasant friendliness he showed to student and faculty alike. As Dr. Roberts leaves the post of President, we extend o heartfelt WELL DONE.
