EVENZ75 't -it , ta at L Friends University has always been known as the Hfriendly schoolf, The over-all friendliness so common on our campus is not common to all schoolsg neither does it arise spontaneously. The absence of cultural, racial, and class barriers at Friends has resulted in the creation of this com- mendable atmosphere. Education found in such an environment will of necessity be supplemented by a rich social program. ,lust so, the friendship of our college is expressed in the many social, reli- gious, and departmental organizations. Sometimes rivalries arise between these groups, yet generally speaking the friendly spirit prevails.

XT Nl VERSITY - if One could hardly speak of this friendly atmosphere without at the same time mentioning its effect upon the entire college life. School unity is achieved mainly through this medium. The reactivated sports program, the democratic student government, the many all- school functions, together aid in the creation of our university unity. Only a few years ago, the question, '4Why isn't there a school spirit at Friends? was commonly heard. Today, however, we can see the beginning of a strong, active school spirit based upon cooperation and friendship, which we believe will grow with the years.
