HOCKEY TEAM Winning their first game with Gir1's High School by a score of 2-1, the hockey team started their season with high hopes. But greatly handicapped by a shortage of active participants, therefore eliminating the Junior Varsity team, the remainder of the season proved rather un- successful. lt cannot be emphasized sufficiently that the girls, under the superb guidance of Teacher June Hale, played each game with dauntless spirit. By looking at a list of final scores, no one can judge accurately the amount of work, coopera- tion, and fun, contributed by each and every player. lt was a tribute to the name of good sportmanship at Select, and to a reputation of which we can all be justly proud.

A tie with Penn Charter and the victory over Friends' Central gave evidence of the lively spirit dis- played in every game. The intense enthusiasm of the spectators contributed greatly to the mental attitude of the players. Sportsmanship and teamwork describe the essence of the soccer season. Achievement and defeat proved rewarding to Master Al, the players and Select. 'FE . ul 1' as M M ' ' -Aff .,.
