Sophomores Aid Seasons Triumphs It was definitely a trying season since the majority of the team was sophomores. However, it wasn't long before the newcomers were stealing the glory and gaining victories at the meets. State champion in the 440-yard dash, Angie White, made impressive scores in the sprints. Carol Byrd, state champion in shot put for the past two years, has left behind records at the district, county and state meets. Despite the injuries which plagued the team due to a poor track and a few out-of-shape runners, the girl's track finishedsthe season with a record women libbers would be proud of. . Sometimes just Trying Is Not Enough The baseball team had a disap- pointing season with only two wins to their credit. This was the result of their inability to mold a pitching staff. In baseball, the pitchers play a key role in the out- come ofthe season. lt was hard at times for the team to continue but the members kept up their spirit.
