FRESHMEN I-'ROLIC The opening curtain shows thirty-three trembling Hfreshie gals and guys registering at Friend High School, We learned what our four subjects were to be and also that Mr. Weber was to be our homeroom teacher. Soon after the beginning of school we elected our class officers, who were to lead us through our first year. loe Murphy was elected as President: Rex Kellough, Vice-President, Donald Burda, Secretary-Treasurer: loan Kucaba, Class Repre- sentative. Despite the warnings and threats of the seniors, we calmly came forth to receive our torture on September 20. The girls came dressed in men's shirts and bibbed overalls worn backwards and mer1's shoes. Cur hair was worn in a knot upon our heads. The boys donned girls' dresses and high-heeled shoes for the occasion. This was our attire for Act H, which was entitled initiation Our last act, Act lll, is activties. Six freshmen ore in the band, and most of the girls are in glee club and also on the volleyball teams. Several of the boys have gone out for football and basketball. We feel sure that they will make the first team before their high school career is over. loan Kucaba

The Wolverines proved too speedy and walked away with a 46-l2 victory. This was the first win over Friend in four years. October 7-Friend won its first victory 7-U in a hard fought battle with Weeping Water. Roger Rohrigs intercepted pass return being the lone score for the Friend Bulldogs. October l4f-On another night game away from home Friend met defeat at the hands of a speedy Geneva team. The score ended 25-0 in favor of Geneva. October 21-Friend won its second win of the' year by outplaying Wymore l4-7. November 4-A mighty determined Friend crew overpowered Bcrneston by the score of 20-14. Friend scored the winning touchdown with twenty seconds remaining in the game on a pass from Freeman to Horner. November lleThe Bulldogs before the largest crowd of the season, went down to defeat bv the score of 20-O to Waverly. Waverly had a large team and they played to win. -14-
