MOMENTOUS MOMENTS CANDLE LIGHT SERVICE The Candle Llght Servlce was one of the musrcal h1ghl1ghts on the actrvrty calendar of the past year Frfty two students from the hrgh school musrc department dlrected by Mtss Shannon made up th1s servrce The trumpet duet and clarxnet quartet played 1mpress1Ve arrangements of well known carols The SGTVICS mcluded many mterestrng arrangements by small choral groups among wh1ch were Chrrstmas Carols DANCE A new realm of recreatlon was added to the act1v1t1es of F H S thls year when the Iumor Class sponsored a dance on the evenmg of Tuesday Novern ber 25 l947 The stage was cleared and the record player and the sponsor shrp of the faculty were added We entoyed several dances presented by the rest of the Hlgh School classes durmg the followmg months Who knows some day we may be sportmg Iunror Sen1or Pronss rnstead of banquets CAKE WALK The Muslc Department under the leadersh1p of Mtss Shannon presented a Cake Walk on December 4 IQ47 There were I2 wrltten scenes The Sp1ke lones group the Gypsy Camp the Band and The Barbershop Quartette were the outstanalng scenes The entrre grade and hlgh s hool took part rn th1s program After the program the drawmg took place for the 50 or mo e del1c1ous cakes baked by the student s mothers FRESHMEN INITIATICDN Frrday October IO was the day the Senlors 1n1t1ated the freshmen Pol low1ng the custorr the Senlors concocted a l1st of apparel for the Freshrren The boys wore thelr pants and sh1rt backwards and were made to go barefoot The glrls wore boy s clothtng and went barefoot whrle wearing th1rteen brards each one tred w1th drfferent colored r1bbon In the evenlng the freshmen were put through the ropes and had to do everythlng from eatmg oysters to proposlng or else gettmg a boost from the electrlc buzzer It wtll be a day long remembered by all the htgh school STATE TOURNAMENT Thxs year for the f1rst tlme 1n the last elght years our basketball team won the d1str1ct tournament and advanced to the playoff 1n whlch they beat Hardy Thls vrctory entltled them to play rn the state tournaments Backed by many good crtxzens of our town they beat Sprlngvelw But all good thmgs must come to an end and Fnend lost to the C Class champ1on Wakefreld ID the semlftnals All m all 1t was one of the best seasons of basketball F H S has seen rn a longtlme 22 ' - I 1 . .
