0,56 ,,Lli5fory As we look back into the past to that eventful day in September of 19146, we see 313. familiar faces entering the First Grade room. They were, John Burton, Duane Charbonneau, Ron Crawford, Dale DeVries, Bill Dougherty, Kenny Dougherty, Rodney Dunn, Kenny Gasho, Garlic King, Denny Martel, like Nelson, Dale Rishel, Robert Starr, Leland Tipton, Jack Richardson, Quentin Barnes, Eleanor Boyce, Patricia Chandley. Joyce Crosby, Noreen Droullard, Janice Gallenger, Linda Gross, Carol Ann Judge, Robin Maynard, Norma Miles, Carley Morrill, Jeanne Reynolds, JoAnn Rouleau, Nancy Sallie, Julia Smith, Iaeve Stevens, Joyce Tuck, Patricia Miller and Vicki Haws. The first unlucky teacher that got the job of ' tackling W us was Mrs. Landahl. During this year we were introduced to Scotch Tape on the mouth and wearing I'am a baby' signs while standing in the hall. Because of 'nibbling' paste, Kenny Gasho had to sit in front of the class and 'attempt' to eat a whole jar of it. Our next year of school was highlighted by the carnival put on by the primary grades. Hrs. Schmitt, our teacher, put in a great deal of time trying to make performers out of us. It is still debatable whether or not she succeeded. During the year we added six new faces and lost nine. In the Third Grade, Roberta DeBruler and Vernon Wood joined us. Ne kept Mrs. Sundstrom on her toes intercepting the 'love notes' which were passed. In our spare time we began learning how to read and write. By the end of the year we had succeeded in driving out' five of our classmates. In the Fourth Grade Mrs. Cary was our teacher. We welcomed four new students and lost Bob Starr and Vernon Wood. It was during this year that we organized a rhythm band which made up a big part of our year in the music department. This next year we encountered our first male teacher, lr. Gould. After lunch every day we looked forward to the stories he read usg the most memorable were those of the 'Hardy Boys'. It seemed as though Vernon Iood still hadn't made up his mind on where to go to school so he returned to us again this year. In the Sixth Grade Nr. Moore was our teacher. During the course of the IBB? we began many new activities. He introduced us to sguare dancing which resulted in a few romances-such as the ones between Ron Crawford and Joyce Tuck, Dale Rishel and Jeanne Reynolds. There was also an aquariam in the room which kept us busy keeping it stirred up. This was the year we were patrolman which led to two rewarding experiencesg that of Petrol Camp and Playland. Vernon Wood left us again this year. In our Seventh year Jim Baker joined the class. Mrs. Yarling became quite famous with her 'glue bottle'. She was always pound- ing it on her desk to get our attention. Sponsored By: Brown Lumber and Friday HarborCann1ng Company
