X, fa 'J 'Qi L f' .iwlzefgaf On Dec. 2nd the Wolverines of Friday Harbor started their 1950-51 season with a game against the Skykomish Skyrockets. The 'A' Squad went down to defeat on the short end of a 57-46 score. The 'B' Squad also were defeated 30-20. The following week-end Friday Harbor tangled with the highly rated Darrington Loggers. The Loggers virtually snowed Friday Harbor under, with the final score reading 72-31. The 'B' Squad played the Darrington reserves to a stand still but the Loggers pulled ahead in the final se- cond and won 34-31. The La Conner Braves invaded Friday Harbor territory on Dec. 16th, and after a hard battle the Wolverines bowed to defeat 49-41. VThg 'B' Squad also was defeated 49-56. next Friday Harbor journeyed to Sultan. The Turks scored a fairly easy victory over the Wolverines, by a final score of 60-45. The se- cond team also tasted defeat 30-17. - fha Lgnglqx Fg109hg'were the next team to face Friday Harbor. In this tilt the olverines gained their first win of the season with final score of 36-33. The 'B' Squad also tasted its first victory, the final score being 29-20. On January 6th the Cardinals of Twin Cities jouneyed to Friday Har - bor. The game was fairly close but in the final seconds Twin Cities pulled away to 'win. Friday Harbor staged a rally late in the third quarter but the Cardinals pulled away in the final quarter. The final score was Twin Cities 57, Friday Harbor 46. The second team was snowed under 45-ll. Coupeville was the next stop for the Wolverines. Friday Harbor came through again in this battle to win 36-33. The Ccupeville 'B' Squad de- feated the Wolverines reserves 34-24. Next Friday Harbor journeyed to Concrete. Concrete easily took the decision 57-34. The second team also lost 54-41. On February 3rd Friday Harbor and Orcas played the first of a two out of three series for'the County Championship. The first half of the game was very close with the half time score being 24-33, but in the sec- ond half Friday Harbor, led by the brilliant play of Jim Nash, pulled a- way tc an easy victory. The final score was 55-36. Jim Nash of Friday Harbor du ped in 37 points to set a new scoring record in Conference play The 'B' Squad had a hard battle but won 34-31. The following week Friday Harbor and Orcas again tangled. The game was close all the way but Friday Harbor finally won 41-35. Again the 'B' Squad dumped the Orcas reserves 36-24. The fin l scheduled game of the season was with Lake Stevens. After a thrilling game Lake Stevens,despite a last minute Wolverine rally, walk- ed of with the decision 63-61. The second team also-19st a thriller 49- 48. The final game of the season was played on the Anacortes floor be- tween Lake Stevens and Friday Harbor. The Wolverines felt very much the loss of their center Jim Cary and were out played throughout the entire contest. The final score was 69-35.
