THE CHURCH - giving the individual a purpose and meaning for life. The quiet contemplative questioning of an in- dividual seeking understanding of himself and seeking direction for-his life can be' answered through the church. The church shows man his role in, what seems at times to be, a chaotic uni- verse. The church directs the individual to see purpose behind the chaos and to generate a faith and confidence in the Creator and His Creation. While the church teaches one how to Worship and how to prepare for eternity, it also offers the key to a successful earthly life through its doc- trine of 'edo unto others as thou Wouldst have others do unto you.'7 THE SCHOOL - giving the individual the training and experi- ence for life. Like the home and the church, the school also plays a vital role in the development of the indi- vidual. lndeed, in our modern industrial society where the accumulation of knowledge is phe- nomenal, the education and preparation of youth for a vocation or for further education is more important than ever. Demands for excellence from both employers and colleges have placed a tremendous burden on all the high schools of America. Frewsburg Central School, We believe, has successfully met the challenge of educating the entire population as well as supplying the quality education that every individual student requires. ln brief, the responsibility of the school is to provide a thor- ough education for each individual. Here, as dep- icted in the 1967 Senior Leaves, are the many Ways Frewsburg Central School fulfills that re- sponsibility. 3

DEVELOPEIVIENT OE THE INDIVIDUAL THE HOME - ' giving the individual alrespect and love for life. The first and most vital influence on an indi- vidual is the home. The home is a sort of paradox, for the child is protected and, yet, taught to accept the responsibilities of life. He develops self esteem and, yet, learns to respect the rights and feelings of others. The home teaches sympathy, compassion and love not through theory alone, but through cond- uct and practice. Through a unity of purpose and a love for others, home teaches cooperation - a 2 cooperation that arouses delight, sympathy, and understanding for the successes and disappoint- ments encountered by the family members. Best of all the home establishes .ai philosophy and a pattern for living. The child learns a re- spect for authority and justiceg he learns how to be a mature adult. It has been said that the home is a bridge be- tween Heaven and earth. Under the watchful eye of the parent, the child is gradually introduced into a seemingly complex and paradoxical world. From the home the individual discovers that the world consists of laughter and sadness, warmth and disappointment, hope and sorrow.
