They carry a ringing noTe oT wisdom and sinceriTy To sTudenTs in a world Torn wiTh haTe, misery, and misundersTanding. OuT oT all The conTusion and bewildermenT which beseTs The young mind Today, comes The ThoughT which prompTed Shakespeare To wriTe Those immorTal lines, and iT gives us a Thread oT hope, someThing To worlc Toward, someThing To use as a guide To deeper undersTanding. You say, I am paTrioTic: I buy war bonds, and sTampsg I conTribuTe To The Red Cross, in order ThaT I may remain a Tree ciTizen7 buT do you Icnow iT is inTiniTely more imporTanT ThaT you remain a Tree moral human being, and ThaT The only way To Treedom is Through discipline? Are you doing your besT To lceep yourselT menTally clean, or are you leTTing go and succumbing To The madness which seems To grasp youTh when war comes along? IT is our paTrioTic duTy also, To mainTain The decenT sTandards oT living which our loved ones are TighTing Tor, and dying Tor. IT is noT only duTy To our counTry which should prompT us To uphold decency: iT also is duTy To ourselves and The TuTure which should lceep us Trom going wild .
