Defined hy the French pianist Stephane 'Mougin, as the swinging between the strong and the weak beat in a measure, swing may be eallezt a sustaining rhythm which guards the balance he- tween the extremes. Swing means gayety, freedom, a lighter step through life, but it also means a resilience to the shocks of life and a return to normal with strength and courage . . . traits which seem to typify the youth of 1938. This nobler thought behind the spirit of the age is the theme which finds its way into the design, the buoyanee, the rhythm of the 1938 Teehniealities.
