Our first social attempt back in 1935 was the sophomore Hop planned on a patriotic theme. With success in our caps We ushered in the romantic springtime with a delightful matinee dance. On the second step we amused our school friends more pretentiously, with a gala Yuletide affair in the gymnasium which was transformed into a veritable fairyland with snowy scenes, Christmas trees and animated toys. Exceeding even our secret hopes We honored our betters'Z the mighty seniors, with that never-to-be-forgotten Prom. An old southern plantation, costumed entertainers who featured the lovely old minuet, will long remain a vivid picture for class members and guests of the 1936 Prom. Seniors now, we feel that mightiness slipping, and tears tugging at our heartstrings, up here on this step so near the end. But pride presses through the melancholy as we think of our senior play. A Murder Has Been Arranged was a thrilling, chilling success. Experienced now in the art of entertaining we presented a Variety Show that stole the thunder from all previous events. Like murder, fun will out, and we celebrated, supreme de luxe, with a cleverly planned luncheon followed by a joyous afternoon' dance on Class Day. Baccalaureate services held in the lovely St. James Episcopal Cathedral, shed a spirit of gratitude and a courage for life upon members of our buoyantly happy class. Night falls on this last rung-and the brilliance and splendor of our commence- ment in the new municipal auditorium looms in our memories as the grand finale to three happy valuable years at Tech. The work we were given here is done, New tasks lie just beyond, We're asking nought of praise or blame, But faith that will carry us on. Not always have we done our best, Sometimes 'twas hard to really know, But we've learned to face lifes' sternest tests With honest hearts where 'ere we go. Now, as we come to our last goodbye, We make this one request, Give us not a winning ticket, But the will to do our best. Principal MISS ETHEL MCCORMACK, MISS WINONA Mc- GUIRE, MISS I.II.A HARRIS, MISS VERA PER- KINS A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL What are school houses made of? Of bricks and lumber or concrete or stone? Put together by somebody's plan So that youngsters today may grow up in the way We vision the stature of man. And back in 1895 the plan for our building came into being, so strongly braced and sound- ly built that few cracks have developed through the years. Fresno Technical stands a monument to the care and skill of its builders, a fine school home for thousands who have worked to help to build Fresno. Its greatest need, fire protection was gained when the concrete tower-was added. It is not the mansion or palace that gives comfort and dignity to its owners-rather it is the dwellers within who m'ake the buildings useful. Ours is a happy family! R. F. ASPINALL.
