RALLY COMMITTEE INTEREST in sports and school affairs is promoted by the rally committee in many ways. Card tricks and stunts at the football games were sponsored by the rally committee led by fall Chairman Henry Rutherford. Fireworks displays, skits, and skilful maneuvers by the band added color to the contests. Although not part of the Rally Committee, the pep girls and yell-leaders worked with them during football season to put on a good show. The trip to Stockton for the clash with College Bob Lurker, Hank Enns, and Loran Taylor lead photographer in yell. of the Pacific is recalled with happy grins by stu- dents. lt isn't the game, lt's the spiritlsi that counts. ln the spring, Guinn Sinclair, new chairman, ar- ranged for Hey Day and Masque Ball. Hey Day began as an afternoon frolic at Roeding Park clim- axed by the gala costume affair at night-the Masque Ball. A Duke and a Duchess reigned for the evening and awarded prizes for outstanding COSfL,lI'T1GS. Pep girls . . . Mary Minnitte, Anita Mittel- man, Jacky Carter, Nadine Nichols, Jeanette Smith.

The Student Court, which con- sists of the Dean of Men, two juniors, and two seniors, exerted its authority only once, that be- ing over the exuberant reactions of a few members of the rooting section during a football game. Later, however, through the combined efforts of the Student Court and the Rally Committee, the rooting section problem was successfully squelched. Roland Rude was chosen as a spring semester member of the court. THE F r e s h m o n Orientation Committee staged an assem- bly at which Dr. Frank W. Thom- as, Dr. Mitchell P, Briggs, and other faculty members greeted the 500 members of the fresh- man class. The class, one of the largest in the history of the coi- lege, was also made acquainted with the traditions, organiza- tions, and activities of the school. Nancy Jorgensen, AWS President, Dean Baker, and Dr. Elizabeth Kelley, sponsors, and Miss Mari- an Browe, financial sponsor, deserve credit for their help. The AWS Stag Dance, the Queen's Tea, the Queen's Ball, a float in the Armistice Parade, a revised AWS constitution, the Christmas tree in the rnain foyer, Christmas presents for handi- capped children, the Spring Formal, the lecture series for wom- en students, the Coordinating Council, the exchange student fund, and refinishing the Women's Lounge and the AWS office were all AWS projects for the year.
