BCDARD OF PUBLICATIONS THE chief duties of the Board of Publications entail appointing editors of The Collegian, the Campus, the Caravan, and the Handbook-Directory, and supervising their publication. Funds appropriated by the college to the publications are handled by the board, and its approval is necessary for all publishing contracts and poli- cies. The board also has authority to dismiss the editor of any publication by a two-thirds majority vote. Four student officers and four faculty members appointed by the college president are voting members of the board. Non-voting members are the editors of the publications the journalism instructors, and representa- tives of the Association office. Faculty members are Dr. Edward V. Tenney chairman, and Arch Addington, Dr. Gertrude Billard, and Dorothy Smith. Student members are Nancy Jorgensen, president of the Associated Women Students, Wendell Bell, student body president, Bob Minor, commissioner of publications, and Pat Heiskell, women's legislative commissioner. - .---....-.- .......... ...---..-1....

THE Board of Union Control regulates the policies of the union, subject to the approval of the Board of Di- rectors. ln a general way, the Board supervises the union building including the social hall, the coed and women's lounge, and The Collegian, Campus, AWS, and Association offices. The closing and opening of the coed lounge whenever the condition of the lounge merits it is part of the Board's job. This year the lounge was open to students most of the time except for a few 24-hour periods when it was closed for a thorough cleaning and also as a reminder to keep it clean. New ash trays were purchased for the lounge this year and placed conveniently about the room. Members of the Board were William Forbes, chairman, Dean Baker, Dean Beatty, Nancy Jorgensen, AWS president, Wendell Bell, student president, Art Safstrom, manager of the Association, and Ray Emberton, chief of the building maintenance crew.
