Most of the energies of the world seem dedicated to destruction, and oppression, yet the institu- tions of higher education remain an influence dedicated to the overthrow of the insecurity and misery that now face mankind. lt is the colleges and univer- sities that can-and must- shoulder this responsibility of re- placing the ignorance of the W0flCl Wlln Undefslnndlng Und Wendell Bell, President of the Associated Students knowledge, in order to direct of Fresno State College. man's energies from the realm at force and unintelligence into the realm of reason. PRESlDENT'S CABINET THE President's Cabinet has many and varied duties, chief of which is serving in an ad- visory capacity to the college president, Dr. Thomas. Some of the major duties of the Cabinet rest in their responsibility of appointing tac- ulty members to the various committees in regard to administrative organization, passing on all major items of the administration, such as the work ot the audio-visual education committee, and passing upon questions about exceptions in registration procedure and admittance. lt also handles the problems not taken care ot by a specific committee, passes on unusual cases brought up by the deans, and sets the calendar ofthe school year. The president and seven faculty members make up the cabinet. Dr. Thomas as presi- dent heads the group. Other members are Dr. Forrest D. Brown, dean of students, Harold Beatty, dean of men, Dr. Hubert Phillips, head of the History Department, Miss Mary C. Baker dean of women, Mrs. Wilma Wight, registrar and secretary of the Cabinet, Dr. A. R. Lang, dean ot pretessional education, and Dr. Mitchell P. Briggs, dean of general education.
