department Dr. Frank R. Morris, mathe- matics department head, re- ceived his B.S. degree at Valparaiso University, A.M. at Indiana University, and Ph. D. at the University of California. He has been on the faculty of Valparaiso University, the University of California, and Indiana Uni- versity, and came to Fresno State College in l92l. Dr. Albert, R. Lang, dean of the upper division and head of the department of education, has been at Fresno State College since l927. He received his A.B. from Nebraska Wesleyan University, his A.M. from the University of Nebraska, and Ph. D. from Stanford Univer- sity. Dr. V. Calvon McKim, head of the geography and geology department, received his A.B. degree at Wayne State Teachers College, Nebraska, and earned his master's and doc- tor's degrees at the University of Nebraska. He has taught in the Hawaiian Islands and in the Philippine islands. ln i942 he came to Fresno State College. Emory Ratcliffe, head of the social science de- partment, was graduated from Earlham Col- lege and received his A.M. from the University of Wisconsin. He has been on the faculty of Whittier and Beloit colleges and has been a summer session instructor at Earlham College, Santa Barbara State College, Rutgers Univer- sity, and Selly Oak Colleges, Birmingham, England. He has been affiliated with Fresno State College since l9l5. Dr. William E. St. John, English department head, came to Fresno State College in l923. He was graduated from the University of Oregon, received his A.M. from Stanford Uni- versity, and his Ph. D. from the University of Southern California. He has been a summer session instructor at the University of Southern California and at New York University. Miss Louise Porch was grad- uated from Rockford College with a B.S. degree and re- ceived her A. M. from Co- lumbia University. She has done graduate work at the University of Chicago and was on the faculty of Ste- phens College. She is head of the homemaking depart- ment at Fresno State Col- lege, to which she came in l942.

Dr. Harry C. Burbridge, head of the physical science department, has been af- filiated with Fresno State College since 1921. He re- ceived his A.B. and Ph. D. degrees at Stanford Univer- sity and has done graduate work at Ryerson Physical Laboratory, the University of Chicago, and Stanford University. He was an as- sociate physicist for the United States Bureau of Standards and research physicist for the Associated Oil Company. heads of Dr. Arthur C. Berdahl, head of the music de- partment, received his A.B. degree at Augus- tana College and his A.M. and Ph. D. at the State University of lowa. He has been a sum- mer session instructor at the State University of Iowa and the Sierra Summer School. He has been at Fresno State College since 1932. Miss Alexandra Bradshaw, who was graduated from Stanford University, is the head of the Fresno State College art department. She has studied at the University of California at Los Angeles, Los Angeles Art Students League, Academie of M. Andre L'hote, Paris, and with Herr Hoffman of Munich. She is a member of the National Association of Women Painters and Sculptors and the California Water Color Society. She has been at Fresno State College since 1917. A. E. Culbertson, agriculture-biology depart- ment head, has been at Fresno State College since 1925. He received his A.B. degree from Emporia College and Yale University and his A.M. from Kansas University. He has been a graduate student at the University of Califor- nia, Hopkins Marine Station, and Stanford University. Marion A. Grosse, head of the industrial edu- cation department, has had 20 years practical experience in industry. He received a voca- tional arts diploma from the University of California, his A.B. degree from Fresno State College, and A.M. from Stanford University. He is a technical consultant to the U. S. Office of Education, division of visual education. He has been at Fresno State College since 1930. Dr. Guy B. Colburn received his A.B. and A-M. degrees from Brown University and his Ph. D. from the University of Wisconsin. He has been a graduate student at Rome, Paris, Madrid, Harvard Uni- versity, and Princeton Uni- versity. He has been at Fres- no State College, where he is the head of the foreign language department, since 1922.

Mrs. Ruth D. Waterman, head of the health and phyl sical education department for women, received her B. S. degree from the Univer- sity of Missouri and her A. M. from Columbia Univer- sity. She has been a faculty member at the University of Missouri, the Territorial Normal School, the Univer- sity of Hawaii, and Santa Barbara State College. She has been at Fresno State College since l939. Victor E. Storli, acting head of the commerce department, was graduated from St.-Olaf Col- lege, received his M.B.A. from the University of Oregon, and is a certified public account- ant. He has been on the faculties of Spokane College, the University of Illinois, and the University of Oregon. He has been at Fresno State College since l928. Dr. Edward V. Tenney, head of the philosophy and psychology department, was graduated from the University of California and re- ceived his Ph. D. from that institution. He earned his A.M. at the Pacific School of Reli- gion and was later a faculty member there before coming to Fresno State College in l927. ' John W. Wright, speech department head, came to Fresno State College in l929. He was graduated from the University of Washington and received his A.M. from that university. He was a graduate student at Yale University Theater, the Cornish School of the Theater, and the University of Southern California. Agnes M. Tobin, head librarian at Fresno State College, received her A.B. degree from the Fresno State Teachers College. She has studied at Tobin College, Iowa Teachers Col- lege, Denver University, and the University of California. Miss Tobin has been at Fresno State since l9l4. Earl H. Wight, head of the health and physical educa- tion department for men, re- ceived his B.L. and A.M. degrees from the University of California. He was on the University of California fa- culty and was a summer session instructor at New York University and the University of California at Los Angeles. He has been at Fresno State College since l924.
