-. Under the second-term direction of Student Body President Frank Mesple, activities at Fresno State Callege made long strides this year comparable to the peace-time level oi pre-War years. Much of this achievement was due to the coordinated efforts of student body oiiicers, committees, and organizations. Owingito the student government system at Fresno State, extra-curricular social, recreational, and service activities are under the direction of committees appointed by the president, or under student-faculty boards to which the student representatives are elected. Democratic self-government, which is the aim of this system, has been achieved with marked success. An innovation at the beginning of the spring semester this year Was the revision by Mesple of all student body committees. This was no reflection on the iine work done by the committees in the tall semester, but was intended to give an opportunity tor student body service to the unprecedently large number oi new students and returning veterans who enrolled mid-year. 5:5ociafec!.S?uc!enfA
