GOODER With the war complicating student activi- ties by causing a heavy drop in enrollment and a curtailment in budget expenses, mem- bers of the Fresno State College student body forgedahead this year to overcome all the drawbacks incurred by the War. Guided by President Glenn Gooder, the student body instituted Hello Week, which became an annual fall event to help new and old students to become acquainted. With the advent of the War, students re- vised their plans, formed a Student Defense Council headed by Blue Key President Bruce Morris, and set about earning money to pur- chase Defense Bonds in cooperation With the War effort along with the collection of War essentials. In May Glenn Gooder and president-elect Floyd Hyde attended the Pacific Student Presidents' Association Convention in Sun Valley, Idaho. Much discussed there Were means by which to earn money for national defense. Put into effect here were corsage- less dances and a number of ideas to carry out the mode, fun Without luxury, as sug- gested at the convention. t l l l l I 1 i w i 1 HYDE

Big sisters from the AiW.S. Luncheon Club, the Sophomore Service Society, and the W.A.A. Board of Control sponsored the fresh- man guests. Early in March, a fashion show was held in the Union, with models chosen from each campus Women's organization. Spring styles from sports Wear to formal gowns were shown.
