Bill D. Mitchell Herb Futrell Al Radko , . . fy f f .yew qv ,.,-wz3a,w- .YM ents si 4-' 1 D Outstanding scholastic gain made for the Associated Students this year was the tacit announcement that Fresno State's graduates would be placed on a degree-par with graduates from all oth- er major universities and colleges in America, since President F. W. Thomas had been invited to Chicago to confer with officials of the Association of American Universities, prime scholastic rating group. Not until next fall, how- ever, will the action be official, but for all practical purposes the confirmation is held to be in the bag. Tops among strictly student achieve- ments were the activities coordination program inaugurated by Student Presi- dent Herb Futrell to systematize and make available student executive and extra-curricular talent , the Frosh Week, when the yearlings tagged stu- dent officials around to sundry func- tions to learn the mechanics of Fresno State student government, and Hey- Dey, newly christened trade for the traditional Collegian Hack Race, which this year was regularized and coordinat- ed into a day of fun and frolic for stu- dents of all inclinations. Student President Futrell's perigrina- tions took him to Hawaii with the invad- ing football team, to Minneapolis for the National Student Federation of America Conference, and to Provo, Utah for the Pacific Student Presidents' Association meet, of which group he is president. Assemblies this year were well at- tended, Futrell gave accolade to the vice-presidents in charge for a good job of planning. Faculty assemblies under the aegis of Dr. M. P. Briggs were informative and well received.
