O Six thousand checks and Sl50,000 in bank deposits each year are handled by the Fresno State College Association Office, nerve center of campus finan- cial and executive activity. Arthur Safstrom, secretary and gen- eral manager of the Association, heads the office, is employed by the Board of Directors, and is subject only to their veto. Safstrom's duties are multifari- 24 ous: all internal management is vested in him, he prepares tentative budgets and administers these budgets after passage by the Board of Directors, re- ceives, approves or rejects 8,000 au- thorizations submitted each year, serves as a trustee for 85 trust fund ac- counts under the purvue of the Associa- tion, and must stand ready at all times as a general business adviser to the score of budgeted sub-organizations within the Association. All employees of the Association are hired by Safstrom, who again is respon- sible to the Board of Directors. The personnel is: Channing Manning, direc- tor of public relations, John Scheibel- hut, assistant general manager, Ma- donna Addington, financial secretary, and La Verne Call, secretary to the gen- eral manager.

Not on 'y all Association athletics re- ceive publicity, but also drama, music and activities of faculty members, ac- cording to Channing Manning, direc- tor of public relations. New enterprise of the publicity office this year was the Loyal Stater, eight-page lithograph- ed monthly, recounting news of alumni and conjuring up reminiscences of alma mater and the Bulldog campus. The press run was 500 copies. Assisting Manning in the publicity program of the college are Students Joe Hinman, Rose Failla, Bob Tienken, and Con Lanford.
