In classes held in one-room school- houses, crude symbols of man's presence in a wilderness, lanky youths snatched at book larnin , with a fierce hunger. Seniors Three years ago the Class of I9-lb entered Fresno High School during those terrible years of war. Now in our last year peace has come. VVe graduate as the first peace time class in our high school life, yet many of our class can not graduate with us for they are in the service of our country. Ar school we at last have that coveted roll of being the leading class in school activities. 'lille executive committee, mostly seniors, had a line record of school achievements. Some of the projects we have worked for will be enjoyed by the future students of Fresno High, and our part in their beginning may be forgotten: yet when within the next few years students enjoy a swimming pool, a cafeteria, improved grounds, we can be proud that those are some of the things we, under the leadership of our principal, lklr. Dann, helped to accomplish. Our class has taken the lead in every department, as is right and customary for a senior class. lklany of our line students repeatedly are on the honor roll. VVe expect much of them at college. lf by their collegiate record the rating of our school in the state universities could be raised, we would have a lasting memorial to their untiring scholastic efforts. ln sports, our very successful year has been due largely to the seniors on the teams. A large number of the football squad were seniors. Likewise our class was well represented on the basketball team, track, and baseball teams. Seniors participated in all branches of our music departs ment -one greatly enlarged this year. 'l'hey entertained at assemblies and rallies, and represented the school at exchange assemblies. Our sponsors, bliss Bartlett and lklr. 'l'hiele, have served the class for three years: their cooperation and enthusiasm kept activity and interest alive even in war times. DON R.
