The City of Fresno and the surrounding com- munities can rightfully be proud of Fresno City College, its faculty and its students. As we observed our 50th anniversary, it was gratify- ing to acknowledge the growth of public higher education in our city. All of us at Fresno City College can be justifiably proud of our com- munity and the many thousands of citizens who constantly support us. The printed history of our fine institution quickly reveals all that has been experienced during the past half century. l am certain these many and varied experiences have been for the good. Our predecessors gave generously of their time and wisdom, all forthe welfare of College bound youth. Today we should look forward to the endless task of building a better college for the stu- dents of tomorrow and the years to come. The recently enacted Master Plan for Higher Educa- tion in California has placed a challenge never before experienced to our students, faculty, administration and community. Cooperation by all should unquestionably meet this challenge for the constant improvement of public higher education. Fresno City College has been fortunate in hav- ing excellent student leaders who supported and guided the many campus activities. For this we are grateful. Our friendly, competent and cooperative faculty have given generously of their time and training for the welfare of our students, regardless of their educational obiec- tives. It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with our students and faculty of today and plan cooperatively for the future. The next decade will bring more changes - larger enrollment, additional buildings, and greater college spirit - as we work together to better serve our fine community.
