Below; Scott Palmer adding to the total. A group of five sophomores filled out the varsity team. They were led by Rick West, who nearly led the team in steals while operating out of the reserve guard role. Kenny Miller, Quayne Green, Bryan Schellinger and Chuck Cline also showed much promise in their combined varsity and J.V. play, forming the nucleus of Bronc Basketball for the future. The Varsity and J.V. squads were combined for the 1979-80 season, carrying a total of 16 players throughout the year and practicing together every day. The junior varsity responded with an outstanding year, compiling a 14-2 record while averaging nearly 70 points a contest. Below right: Tim Bagnell thinks over the next play on his way to set up for defense Although we are going to lose three fine players, Coach Molitor has given many underclassmen a chance on the court to gain more experience than would get during a junior varsity game. In doing this he has assured us of a promising team in the years to come. 21

Varsity Basketball 1979-80 [Q j The 1979-80 Basketball season was one in which the Frenchtown Broncs served notice that they are a force to be reckoned with in the Western B Conference. The Broncs finished the season with an 11-10 record, their first winning record since being promoted to the B classification in 1977. Included in that record was an 8-6 regular season league record, which was good for sole possession of third place, behind the Loyola Rams and the Plains Horsemen. The Broncs were captained by the only three seniors on the squad: Andy Sherry, Tim Bagnell and Brad Parker, all three turned in solid performances. The junor class supplied the surprises of the year. In his first year in a Bronc uniform, Frank Lovell led the team in scoring, and was selected to the all-conference team. Tom Glessner aided in the battle by averaging in double figures. Rounding out the promising junior class of front-liners was Scott Palmer, who rebounded from an early season bout with pneumonia. Belov»; Scott Palmer adding to the total.
