Text from Pages 1 - 64 of the 1969 volume:

Frenchtown High Schoo 1968 1969 Mrs. Gwendolyn Parker was born in Wibaux County, Montana. She attended Eastern Montana School of Education at Billings, and received her B.A. in Education at the University of Montana. In September, 1960, she began teaching the fourth grade in Frenchtown. Prior to that, she was a teacher's aid to the first four grades. Three of her sons; James, John and Larry, graduated from Frenchtown. I would choose teaching if I had to choose a career again. Frenchtown School and the Frenchtown Community has been wonder- ful to us, it is my HOME . Mrs. Mildred Bandy was bom and raised in Missoula, Montana. Her secondary education was from the Missoula County High School. Mrs. Bandy received her teaching diploma from Western Montana College of Education at Dillon, and her degree from the University of Montana. After five years of teaching she became a member of the French- town faculty in the autumn of 1954. Mrs. Bandy enjoys teaching in Frenchtown because of the Fine co-operation and close contact with the student and the parents. I can't remember the time when I didn't want to be a teacher, commented Mrs. Alvana Smith. Mrs. Smith attended la la Junior College and Kansas State College where she received her teacher's training. Mrs. Smith taught the intermediate and Junior High Levels, but became interested in pri- mary education after her children entered school. She received her B.A. from Fort George Wright College in Spokane, Washington. She received her certificate in special education at Portland State College. Mrs. Smith has taught twenty-five years, seventeen of which have been in the Frenchtown Elementary School. I could find no friendlier place, nor finer students to teach. 2 SENIORS KENNETH WAYNE WILLIAMS: Junior Varsity Football 1; Varsity Football 2,3,4; Class Vice-President 2; Football Co-Captain 4; Junior Varsity Basketball 1; Boys’ State Alternate 3; Varsity Basketball 2,3,4; Boys' Track 1,2, 3,4; Class President 4; F-Club Vice-President 3; Class Treasurer 1; Chorus 1; F-Club President 4. During these four years new members were added to this group now formally called The Group and lessons have been taken to learn to play instruments such as guitars. The Group has tried to maintain a projected line, they are not out to formally protest anything; their purpose has been to affirm--to maintain a regard for the folk tradition but also to express what the rest of their generation is trying to say. The Group has traveled to Whitehall, Great Falls, and such places in Missoula as: The Elks Club, Florence Hotel and Club Chateau to perform for such organizations as: American Dental Association, American Medical Association, Production Credit Association, Rural Electric Co-op, Executive Women's Association, Missoula Cartage Company, and Women's Bowlers Association. Before a per- formance The Group practiced as long as ten hours, but usually five hours, two days a week had been set aside for practice. During 1969 s busy singing season The Group preformed before approximately 1,500 people. The eight members of The Group were Seniors: Jim Tolman, Marica McDonald, Dave Kirchner, and David Touchette who has been in the group since it started. The one junior member is Belinda Harrington, sophomores were Tim Tolman, drummer, and guitarist Jill Stewart. The only freshman was Mike Swenson. 31 BAND left to right; Sue Mercer, Linda Adams, Director Jan LaValley, Aline Richardson, Patty Hoenke, Marcia McDonald, Rosemary LaCasse, Vicki Cline, Judy Johns, David Touchette, Jan Fisher, Cheryl St. John, Tom Steigers, Tim Tolman, Mike Swenson, Dan Lake, Vonda Tintinger, Jim Adams, Libby Greer, Virginia Rassmussen, Dan Sample, Thomas Hayes, John (FLY) Haacke, Dede Bondurant, Randy Howell, and Steve Lackner.
