PLUTONIAN 1950 Y Class History Sam Senior, forgetting his dignity and bearing as a member of the class of MSO , slumped down into his seat. It was class day! The class historian was droning on and on with a dull speech. He was saying, And so in the year of 1946 our ship of education was launched by our faithful and distinguished sponsors who had called us together for our first class meeting in the stately halls of dear old French Lick High, therefore, it was - and so he droned on and on - and Sam snored on and on. ln his sleep Sam went' over the history of his class. The worn out speech of the class historian told nothing. The history should have gone something like this: Three years and eight months ago a group of students first set forth in Room 20 to conceive and dedicate the proposition that if the teachers could stand us, we could stand them. The class has made its mark on this school, especially on the study hall desks. In 1946 the 49 dignified seniors of tofday were 73 humble, puzzled, and green freshmen. Green, though they were, they managed to elect their candidate for the Basketball Queen of l946f47, Norma Ann Denbo. During their first class meeting, the class, aided by their sponsors, Mrs. Knight and Mr. Aylsworth, elected the following class officers. President ......................... Bernard Seybold VicefPresident ......... . . . Richard Morgan Secretary and Treasurer . . . . . . . . . Norma Denbo Class Reporter ................,..... Robert Drake The class started off their career as sophomores by electing the following off ficers: President ............ ........ L eon Hopper VicefPresident .......... .... N orma Ann Denbo Secretary and Treasurer ............ Shirley Crowder Class Reporter ........................ Mary Hicks This year Mr. Claxton and Mrs. Lindsey, class sponsors, were on hand to help us over the rough spots. Try as they might, the sophomores couldn't squeeze into one room. So they were assigned to two roomsg rooms 15 and 16. Barbara Lynch was chosen to represent the class in the election of the l947f48 basketball queen. lt's September 1, 1948 and the poor, weary Sophomores of last year are firmly entrenched in room 16, All is in readiness, for thev are preparing themselves for the next two years in their hopeless battle for education. This year we were placed under Mr. Wiggs and Mrs. Hamilton. Norma Ann Denbo was selected as our candidate for basketball queen this year. The following officers were elected to reign over us this year. President .......,..............,.... Leon Hopper VicefPresident . . . . . . Muriel Freeman Secretary ..... .... N ancy Miers Treasurer .......... ........ N orma Denbo Class Reporter ....................... Phyllis jones For the next five weeks the Juniors could he found each night preparing their class play entitled Tumblin' Creek. Although it didn't sound possible judging by our first feeble efforts. the play was finally given November 17, The following were in the play: Pauline Henson, Leon Hopper, Muriel Freeman, Kenneth Jones, Mick Hagan, Martha Sue Harrison, Norma Ann Denbo, Pat Pinnick, Jackie Tarr, Lee Y PAGE EIGHTEEN r
