Next on the list is Ed McCarty Our second team's tall center. He easily dodges the green carpet With Messick as his mentor. Our tenor, Harold McDonald, Is said to be so handsomeg But why should he care- Nita Wilson asks no ransom. We then come to McFarland As Gertie , she is hailedg For one of our many t'Flicks We fear her heart has failed. A dark eyed quiet miss ls none but Pauline Mills She doesn't flirt with the boys Nor wear any silly frills. The next on the list is Putnam g Glenn we call him here- A shiek in small boys' clothing But full of pep and cheer. Anna Lois is our secretary A sweet and winsome lassg Who has been a willing helper And a friend to all her class. Margie Thacker, an old school mate, Never in her life has stayed out lateg She's a funny girl says Mr. Fate Can't figure why she will not date. Though he is always quiet He does not lack appealg And when Mert works seriously His efforts turn out real. There's a boy with flashing teeth And a quiet winning wayg t'Who'I we ask of all the girls. Sid Sturm, is what they say. Esther Stemply has curly hair And also has a chumg They're always seen together No matter what may come. Dorothy Stultz with blond hair And eyes of pale, pale blue, Has lured many farmer boys, Do not let her lure you. The honorable Miss Wagoner ls our editor-in-chief, Who's worked hard on this paper And checked it leaf by leaf. We fear that Mary Woolums Was lured by Oakland City's charms But she will return to graduate With her friends of town and farm Mae Williams with the big blue eyes And a very pretty smile Prepares her lessons willingly And does the things worth while. Paule Wininger, our yell leader, With worries now is laden For his petite blonde belle Has moved from dear West Baden. in---lm THE PLUTOCRAFT U-iilu Senior Play- Peg 0' My H eart By Helen Briner Peg O' My Heart , a three-act com- edy, was chosen by Miss Luckette and Mr. Ashby for the Senior play which was presented April S, in the high school gymnasium. The following cast was chosen: Mrs. Chichester .,..,.,.,. ..,..,.., N ina Hazel Alaric, her son ...,......,......... Vance Morgan Ethel, her daughter .......... W arden Tabor Maid qliennettl .....,. .....,,., E leanor Mavity ..........Paul Chilton .Helen Briner Jerry .l.,............,.... Peg ......,...............,..... .....,.,.,. Mrs. Chichester, an English matron, and her two children, find that their bank has gone under and that they are penniless. Mr. Hawkes, an executor of Mrs. Chichester's late brother's estate, reads them the will that gives one thousand pounds a year to whoever shall take the responsibility of rearing their cousin, Margaret, who lives in New York with her father. Margaret's mother married an Irish- man by the name of O'Connell, thereby ruining her own life in the eyes of her family and leaving a blot on the old and respectable name of Kingsnorth. At first Mrs. Chichester emphatically declines to be bothered with her, but realizing their financial condition, rr-- luctantly consents to try to keep her niece for a month. Peg, who says she will not go by the name of Margaret, arrives from New York and proves to be as impossible as they had imagined her to be. Even Bennett and Jarvis, the servants, find her to be a trial. Page 20 El Christian Brent, a married man who is making love to Ethel, can make no head- way with Peg On one occasion he is boxed on the ears for his unwanted attention. Jerry, a friend and schoolmate of Alaric, falls in love with Peg at first sight. He is completely carried away by her charming ways and quaint Irish brogue. Ethel attempts to elope with Brent and only by Peg's efforts, is stopped. The two girls are caught and the little New York cousin takes all the blame for the disturbance. Finally the month ends and Peg re- fuses to stay with the Chichester's any longer. Jerry , who is also an executor of Nathaniel Kingsnorth's estate, tries to persuade her to accept the home of her aunt and tells her she will receive five thousand pounds a year of her own when she is twenty-one. Alaric proposes to Peg in hopes of saving the family fortune, but she says she would much rather have her dog, Michael. Mr. Hawkes also asks her to marry him and again she refuses. She has made up her mind that she does not like Englishmen and has planned to go back to her father when Jerry pro- poses. He is really Sir Jerald Adair and after Peg finds it out. she refuses him. As he is leaving, a storm comes up and Peg , who is really afraid of them, goes into his arms. In answer to his repeated question, she says, Sure, there's nothing half so sweet in life as love's young dream.
