CEUWUEUAAN UDEEENSE JUNIOR RED CROSS Realizing that our country at wer needed the coopera- tion of all school chilircn, the American Junior Red Cross organisation of our school urged clubs to be formed to carry on civilian defense work. The following clubs or- ganized: sewing Club, Knitting Club, Quilting Club, Scrap- book Jlub. Herbert Dieses and Mr. Weide's first, fifth and sixth period classes worked to mshe ssh trays for soldiers in hospitals. SEWING CLUB The prupose of the Sewing Club was to make costumes for school productions and to iid th Red Cross. Membership wss voluntary on the part of girls in tbe home economic depart- ment and other girls interested in sewing. Hsin events of the your were: l. QUILTING CLUB The purpose of the Quilting Club, sponsored by Miss Phebe Sheldon, was to msho quilts for babies without homes and for soldiers overseas. Any girl wis eligible to this club. This yesr's members were send: Uiorich, Judith icC1rson, Charlotte Sanchez, Gloria Peyton, sau ievcrly Nugent. The girls mide ten baby quilts and two soldiers' quilts. SCRAPBCOK CLUB At thc close of the year only two sctivs members were in the Scrapbook Club: Margarita Vigil and Vids Feye Aldridge. The sponsor of this club was hiss Alice Blanchard.
