This knowledge which is gained from many sources -the school, home, and church- plays a vital part in the development of an individual. Attitudes and ideals are also formed. Inspiration, happi- ness, disappointments, and discour- agements are all experienced. The activities in which the student par- ticipates give the experiences that will aid him later on in life. During the twelve years of schooling the stu- dent is prepared to accept responsi- bilities which must be faced. Knowl- edge and experience are gained by participation in regular classes, ath- letics, class projects, clubs, publica- tions of the school newspaper, the yearbook, and many other school activities. On the following pages you will be introduced to the administration, faculty, and students. You will see numerous ways in which our experi- ences are widened: in the class room, on the basketball floor, by playing in the band, and sharing in other school activities. You will have a better understanding of our school life and our preparation for the fu- ture. Here is where we learn co- operation, reliability, leadership, de- pendability and initiative. With these assets, we will be equipped to begin our future, for we are 'l'oday's Students. Tomorrow's Citizens. Mrs. Langley Mrs. Langley is the school secretary. Her cheerful personality makes her very popular among the students. Even though her job keeps her busy, she always has time to help any class or organization that is sponsoring a dinner by supervising in the cafeteria. Admini Mr. Duke Mr. Duke,s influence affects the school and the community greatly. Guidance, discipline, and advice are provided by Mr. Duke, and are at the disposal of any student. Indeed, his presence establishes us more firmly as todayis students, to- morrowis successful citizens. tration Advisory Board The Advisory Board has made many de- cisions to help the graduates of Fremont be better citizens. They helped in the making of the handbook, that was passed out to every student. The handbook has a lot of valuable information and has helped create better understanding among students and teachers. 2 Mr. M ertz The duties of the Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Mertz, are innumerable. One of his re- sponsibilities is to carry out orders issued by the School Board. lVlr. Mertz also serves as an advisor to the School Board and is the execu- tive and administrative officer of the board of trustees. He is also most willing to counsel and advise any student who feels the need of such help. Faculty PAULINIC BARK DULI, A.B.. Butler University. Indian- a olis Indiana' Bull St'1te Teach- p ,. . Membership in this society is the high- est honor which any student may receive in high school. ln order to become a member, the student must have a B+ average and be in the Junior or Senior class. A student who is eligible for membership must also meet the four character requirements: Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service. Membership in the National Honor Society is truly a fitting reward for four years of the proper scholastic achievement and character development. LEFT TO RIGHT: Mr. Duke, B. Zimmerman, C. Sevits, B. H igh School Baseball The Eagles won three and lost six games this year. but this record doesnit show how hard the boys played. All but two of the games were quite close, and the boys played their best. We should have a strong team next year, because only one Senior is lost by graduation. and there are five Freshmen that gained valuable experience by playing regularly. Olin Firestone was the batting hero with a .375 average. and Dennis Buwalda and Jerry Rakestraw shared in the pitching. Jerry also did a very fine job on the defense. ROGER BARRY N- Senior - Guard Roger is a varsity starter whose defensive and passing ability has made him a valuable team member. His expert team spirit also has helped the team. GREG BARRY Y Sophomore - Guard Greg gained a starting position through his all-around basketball ability. This sophomore guard's hustle and the experience gained this year should make him a valuable asset in future years. DAVID ANSPAUGH - Sophomore - Forward Dave is a sophomore starter, whose jump shot, rebounding, and defensive ability made him a valuable asset. Experience should make Dave much stronger in the next two years. BOB BAKER - Junior - Forward Although Bob was not a regular starter, he gave valuable support in many instances. The experience he gained should make him a valuable player in his last year. 62 ...Q QTL DON VAN METER-glunior-Forward lfnthusiusm and team spirit made Don a Capable replacement this year. Varsit This year's Eagles didnit have an impressive record, but they tried hard and did their best. The biggest handicap was the lack of height and experience. but the loss of only two seniors should make for a strong team next year. With two Sophomores playing regular. and many other line underclassmen, this year's experience should he help- ful in the future. David Anspaugh was the leading scorer as well as having the best free throw average. Jerry Lantz was a close second in both respects. The Fremont Eagles have learned team spirit and true sportsmanship. which should be an asset to them in later life. 1 R E 'k J Cl Mr Kel1e.BOTTOM TOP ROW, left to right: Mr. Stafford, J. This yearis scoring honors went to Marvin Burrell, with Joe Chapin following close behind. Roger Baker was the leader in the free throw percentage department.
