FBLA actively in olved in the business world Senior Cheryl Mesenbrink smiles happily as she discovers her books for the Lester Hill Corporation check out. The fictional company was used by the Office Occupations class as a teaching aid. Future Business Leaders of America is an organization trying to stimulate the students' interest and cause him to become more actively involved in the business world, explained senior member Cheryl Mesenbrink. Sponsored by Mr. Kyler Nelson, business teacher, the strictly fema'le group numbered approximately I5 members. All FBLA members this year were in- volved in Office Occupations and held secretarial or other office-related positions in the Fremont area. Katz. crowns Soukup Sweetheart Fremont's Distributive Education Club of America gives those students that are in- terested in work study programs a chance to learn more about business and marketing in the classroom but also from outside work experience. DECA members organized and spon- sored the annual Christmas dance and the crowning of Miss Merry Christmas and Mr. Happy New Year. Other ac- tivities included a hockey game, and a picnic and the year ended with an employer-employee banquet. DECA Sweetheart for l972-l973 was Debbie Soukup. Senior DECA member Penny Sperstad departs for her iob as part of the work study program members par- ticipate in. Mr. Robert Hergenrader sponsors the club and teaches the marketing classes.
