FOREWORD As we face another of the many crossroads of our lives, what thoughts pass through our minds? We recall the past, its joys as well as its sorrows, its triumphs as well as its defeats. We consider what the future holds for us and what we must do to fulfill its promise. We must now hesitate amidst the barrage of decisions with which we are faced and contemplate our past accomplishments, successes, and failures. We must regard the numerous decisions which we have made in the past and their present effect gn our lives. We must consider the counsel of our parents and teachers in making these decisions. With these deeds accomplished, the difficulties which may be encountered in making the decisions concerning our future will be considerably lessened. Whatever our decisions be concerning further education, we shall always have the numerous memories of our high school career to give us confidence as we face the crossroads which we shall encounter later in life. As we turn through these pages in the future, the pleasant reminiscences will serve as a reminder of our past goals and endeavors. It is the Voyageur Staff's sincere hope that each individual attain these goals. By using the theme Crossroads, in the 1962 Voyageur, the Staff hopes to portray in retrospect the year which has presented to us the first of the many crossroads that we shall encounter throughout our lives. 2

A DEDICATION In his hope of tomorrow does man renew his faith; for, in times of crisis, the large specter of the future uplifts the man from his common labor and transports him to the realm of hope. In this realm he renews his strength — strength to live, strength to work, and strength to endure. It is in the hope of tomorrow that we make our plans for today, and it is in the realization of these plans that we give our lives meaning. We, the Class of 1962, are the planners and leaders of tomorrow. It is imperative that we hold tomorrow as our guide, today as our teacher. Upon our shoulders falls the fate of the world, and in our hands lies the future of our nation. Each one of us must now go his own way in life, to fulfill his duty as a citizen of the world. In this duty we must not fail. Therefore, we choose as our beacon, hope, and under its guiding light we find our way. Thus, because of its importance in our future and our lives, the Class of 1962 dedicates this yearbook to The Hope of Tomorrow.
