THE CROSSROADS Within the next few months each of you will travel to a broad intersection of your Road of Life. Here hangs the traffic light which will regulate your life. As some of you approach, you who have already set your goals and made your plans for the future, the light turns green. For the next few years you will study, join the military service, or learn a trade. As others of you approach, the light turns amber, signalling caution. This should indicate to you a need to give serious thought to your future and consideration to the signs at the intersection. Are you willing and ready to travel down Study Lane, Job Avenue, Service Street? Next, the light turns red. At this stop signal, some of you should take stock of your life and determine to make more use of it. You should select the road that will help you succeed in a mature, constructive way. We can hope that whether the light turns green, amber, or red as you approach the Crossroads, you will find that the strength of your character, the courage of your convictions, and the hope in your future will remain steadfast as you travel on your Road of Life in the roles of a patriotic American, a responsible citizen, and a devoted homemaker. Sincerely, J. Wesley (southard, Principal Freeport High School 23
