Our school system would, undoubtedly, be unable to function properly without the able leadership of Dr. Dodd, our Superintendent of Schools, and our Assistant Superintendents, Mr. William Hughes and Mr. Clayton Williamson. Each of these men has devoted much time and effort toward the development of our new Freeport High School. We can thank them heartily for our fine teaching staff, our modern school facilities, and all of the many things that we, as students, take for granted. They have not only labored for us in the Senior High School, but also worked with each of the other schools in Freeport. Our Superintendents are respected educators and community leaders who work together with deep interest in the well-being and advancement of Freeport High School. Now, especially, in a new high school where standards must be set and spirit must be sparked anew, our Superintendents, Dr. Dodd, Mr. Hughes, and Mr. Williamson, have displayed the type of enthusiasm and dedication that makes Freeport High School as well-known as it is. ADMINISTRATION AND GUIDANCE Mr. Irving Franklin Assistant Principal In spite of the additional problems resulting from a new building for Freeport's senior high school students, the administration and guidance departments have managed to carry on with their usual efficiency. Our Principal and Assistant Principal, Mr. Southard and Mr. Franklin respectively, have been the pillars of strength on which the student body has depended during this all-important first year. Through their work our high school life has become much more interesting and enjoyable. The guidance department has once again managed to guide us through a year filled with problems concerning college and vocations, as well as school life itself. This year, for the first time, vocational guidance was made available to all interested students. This was accomplished through the addition of Mr. Hamel as vocational guidance counselor. Thus, Miss Didas, Mr. Puff, and Mr. Miller were able to devote more time to college-bound students. We will always be indebted to these departments for having helped us with problems of deep concern.
