SEATED, L. to R.: Herbert F. Baehr; Hugh Erwin, Vice-Pres.; Leo F. Giblyn, Pre .; Clifton B. Smith; Roy R. Gockley. BOARD OF EDUCATION The Board of Education, under the able leadership of Mr. Leo F. Giblyn, aided greatly toward the completion of the new Freeport Senior High School. It was through the unfaltering efforts of these men that we, the class of '61, are proudly able to be the first graduating class from this school. The Board willingly cooperated with the many groups of our community who, as a unit, shared a common goal: the desire to see our highly esteemed educational system upheld by the facilities which could be offered only in a modern and well-equipped high school. Because of their devout and fervent interest in our welfare and progress, we, the student body of F.H.S., will always remember with great admiration Mr. Leo F. Giblyn, President of the Board of Education; and Mr. Hugh Erwin, Mr. Roy R. Gockley, Mr. Clifton B. Smith, and Mr. Herbert Baehr. MR. CLAYTON WILLIAMSON 10

Our school system would, undoubtedly, be unable to function properly without the able leadership of Dr. Dodd, our Superintendent of Schools, and our Assistant Superintendents, Mr. William Hughes and Mr. Clayton Williamson. Each of these men has devoted much time and effort toward the development of our new Freeport High School. We can thank them heartily for our fine teaching staff, our modern school facilities, and all of the many things that we, as students, take for granted. They have not only labored for us in the Senior High School, but also worked with each of the other schools in Freeport. Our Superintendents are respected educators and community leaders who work together with deep interest in the well-being and advancement of Freeport High School. Now, especially, in a new high school where standards must be set and spirit must be sparked anew, our Superintendents, Dr. Dodd, Mr. Hughes, and Mr. Williamson, have displayed the type of enthusiasm and dedication that makes Freeport High School as well-known as it is. MR. WILLIAM S. HUGHES DR. JOHN W. DODD SUPERINTENDENTS OF SCHOOLS 11
