RETIREMENT This year we are indeed sorry that the time has come to say good-bye to our Superintendent of Schools, Dr. John W. Dodd. His many years of devoted service will long remain in our memories, and we will always think of him at our pep assemblies and sports events, to which he added much spirit and meaning. Dr. Dodd's responsibilities have been legion throughout his years as the head of our school system, and he has met each year enthusiastically and conscientiously. The John W. Dodd Junior High School stands in recognition of the many achievements that our Superintendent has made. Now we wish to say thank you, Dr. Dodd, for all you have done toward the growth and improvement of our school and for the personal interest you have taken in each one of us. DR. JOHN W. GIBLYN Member, Board of Education from July 1, 1932 to December 19,1960 President, Board of Education from July 1, 1940 to December 19,1960 With sorrow we record the passing of Leo F. Giblyn, whose unselfish service to public education in Freeport was outstanding not only for its unusual length and inspirational leadership but because of his sincere interest in the welfare of youth and his sacrificial devotion to public duty and his country. He was a great man, whose character will always be a shining example of courage, steadfastness of purpose and hope for the future.
