S5etircme«t MISS HARRIET CHURCH In June, 1956, someone, other than we seniors, will be saying goodbye to Freeport High School. MISS HARRIET CHURCH of the Home Economics Department and a member of the Freeport school system for thirty-five years, will leave us at that time. Miss Church, a native of High Falls, New York, was graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Albany State Teachers College. For several years she was chairman of the Home Economics Department in the Junior-Senior High School, and has been the organizer and director of the cafeteria departments in five Freeport public schools. Proving the old adage that a busy person will always find time to take on more tasks, Miss Church is a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and Director of both the Needlework Guild and the Community Concert. She is also very interested in collecting antiques and in reading. We know that she will soon find herself so immersed in community affairs that she will find little time to miss us. Both the students and faculty of F.H.S. wish Miss Church the best of luck and good health and hope the future will bring her only happiness. 12

c dminiAtr ation and (guidance Miss Mary Didas, Senior Girls' Counselor, and Miss Alice Davis, 9th grode Counselor. Mr. C. Overton Tremper, Senior Boys' Counselor and Assistant Principal. Mr. John Hesse, 7th and 8th grade Counselor and Assistant Principal. In the hands of the GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT has been placed the task of preparing students for the future. To accomplish this, the Guidance De partment has aimed at assisting the student in deciding upon a career and then coordinating his extracurricular activities in accordance with his field of interest. Through the efforts of the guidance counselors, a series of aptitude tests have been provided to help students decide upon a career. In a personal interview with one of the counselors, students learn of their abilities and may thus plan a program of study with their future in mind. Miss Alice Davis and Mr. John Hesse advise junior high students on their schedules and the extracurricular activities available to them. Miss Mary Didas and Mr. C. Overton Tremper attend to the needs of senior high boys and girls by advising them on programs of study to meet the requirements in their fields of interest, colleges which would meet their particular needs, scholarships for college, and available jobs for high school graduates. We owe our advisors a debt of gratitude for the interest they show in us and the advice and encduragement they so readily offer. 11
