Let the deeds prove the man —was the remarkable prediction for Mr. Irving B. Franklin in the 1929 Freeport High School yearbook. Mr. Franklin is well-known and well-liked not only as an English teacher, but also as the enthusiastic coach of football, basketball, and baseball. His friendliness and good sportsmanship are best demonstrated by his memorable performances at our pep assemblies and his revival of the song, Out on the Island. Among his most outstanding deeds should be mentioned the following eight: Bruce, LuAnn, Stephanie, John, Geraldine, Elizabeth, Christopher, and George. In appreciation of his interest in F. H. S. and its students we dedicate the 1954 Voyageur to— MR. IRVING B. FRANKLIN 5

As our senior class comes to its closing year, both pleasantly and profitably we review these events that have so greatly influenced our lives. What can be more suitable to commemorate our senior class than the wheel, long associated with all the progress civilization ever made? In every turn of the ages the wheel has served as the starter for man's new inventions; our modern industry could not exist without it; it measures time itself. The experience, learning, and beliefs that we have gained during our school years will guide in our future. May the Voyageur with its glimpse of wonderful memories inspire you to balance this symbolic wheel on the straightest route to happiness and success. 4
