r IL'l'.IE fC'-.lHI'.J 1111111 HDDUFIL 1111111 It is difficult to put one's finger on the origin of the custom of permanently recording school activities in the form of a High School year book. The following inscription may in part cell something of the reason for our annual publication, To Memory Wfacfwa Tbrougfa ffae Halls of Rc'c'ollec'fio1z Coma Tlaougfats We Long fo Greet. l To every student in H. S. there is an irresistible appeal about the story which these pages tellg-the story of achievement, of ability, initiative, industry and knowl- edgeg the story of a group intensely in earnest, where enthusiasm invites enthusiasm on all phases of school life-cztfaletic, social and scholastic. The year book has an appeal so natural and fundamental that it almost seems to defy explanation. It is genuinely a student production. As such it represents a real achievement. An achievement is a joint product. It reaches far back into the past and it carries forward. May the enthusiasm and accomplishment of the students of our school continue, and may each member of the class of 1929 continue to have a real vision of the true value of education. May the story of friendship and goodwill, so well portrayed in this year book, continue to typify your feeling toward Freeport High. Success and Best Wishes to the Class of 1929. JOHN W. DODD, Supcwinfefzdent of Schools. ' 929 Wffzggs 13

Aw I I - I I 1112.111 HDUUHL 1111 1 BOARD OF EDUCATION When your editor asked me to write something for the year book, I said, What, again?', But this is another yearn he told me. And so I was reminded that again we are approaching the time when so many of those whom we have known in the various activities of the high school are going to step out into the next phase of their lives. I almost said leave usn and then thought better of it, and substituted step outf' None of us who have been connected with the school wants you of the Class of 1929 to feel you are leaving the school. The interest and the support of the alumni mean much to the undergraduates and to the teaching and supervisory forces. It is a tie which truly binds the school to the community. I,et's make it even stronger in the future. Make up your minds to do your part. Now, wherever you go, whatever you do for your future work, may it be well chosen and be successful. May happiness and all good things worth having be yours and may the training which you obtained in Freeport High aid now and then in the attainment of your worthwhile ambitions. On behalf of the Board of Education I say, Congratulations and God speed. G. BURCHARD SMITH, President, Board of Education. IT 'wr 1929! 12
