Flyers Never Give Up During Trying Season This year Torn Villa and Rick Preheim ranked for the all- conference te am. The Flyers posted a 1-7 record in a tough season. Winning the first game, the Flyers could not get on the winning side again. Many of the action packed contests were not decided until the final gun had sounded. The Flyers admitted three opponents to the hospital and gave underclassmen much experience. This year the Flyers were aided by the use of Video tape. All home games were recorded and proved to be very valuable. Telephones were used in spotting the act- ion. Another Flyer asset was the good weather and en- thusiastic support of the fans. The seasons only win was against Menno. Menno took an early lead as the Flyers could not generate a scoring drive. In the second quarter the hard hitting Flyers de- fense took their toll as six Menno players left the game because of injuries sustained in play. This opened up the game in the second half to a 18-19 Flyer victory. Despite a losing season the spirit of the 28 players never lagged. The entire school showed a certain close- ness for as Assistant Coach Erpenbach said, There were as many fans at the last game as there were at the first. ' -
