The first goal was to try to inform the parents of the changes which are taking place in education and how these changes are being implemented in the Freeman system. The second goal was to set up meetings in which teachers were to discuss new methods of teaching. The discussions were to be led by outstanding person- nel in the field of education. The main attempts to achieve the first goal was the education week program, which was highlighted by a Back to School Night in which the parents were to take the classes of one of their children. At the same time, the grade teachers made posters, and had them placed in store windows, which stressed parent participation in education. To meet the second goal, a series of inservice meetings were conducted. State Department of Ed- ucation officials were invited to conduct the meet- ings. Approximately twenty-five of the area teachers participated in a graduate level course in education ,which was conducted by the Univeisity of South Dakota.
