Now we have come to the close of our high school career. We have achieved the title of the Seniors of 1947. we have one new member, Ernest Stoebner. We started the year by initiating the Freshmen. We gave them a few instructions as to they were to respect us. Thev returned the good spirit but as for the party, we didn't receive any. The class officers thir year are: Pres. Jimmy Smidt V. Pres. Ernie Stoebner Sed. Irene Spomer Treas. Willis Wipf Denver was elected president of the student council and Willis, vice president. Andrew Nachtigall made a fine showing for the class by receiving a rating of excellent in the oratory division at the district declamatory contest. Jimnv was elected a cheerleader for the third year. Five of our boys were among the first ten on the basketball team. With the help of these boys we won the Consolation in the district tourna- ment. The team had an outstanding record in games which they played. They only lost 8 out of the 21 played. The high school King and Queen were chosen from our classg they were, Irene Spomer andCharles Preheim. They were crowned at an all high school carnival given Novemver l, the first high school carnival in several year. We are among one of the first classes to publish a high school Annual We have named it the 'Flyette' and are dedicating it to Mr. Erickson, our Music instructor. We chose for our class play 'The Campbells Are Comingn, a comedy, by Jay Tabias, which will be presented April 25. We are all looking forward to skip day, which comes near the close of the school year. May ll we are having Baccalaureate Services and May 16 is our Com- mencement night. We are changing the regular custom of formals and dress to caps and gowns. The Junior-Senior banquet, in our honor, was held the first part of May. Our class motto is nSky High Is our Limit.W Our flower is Gardenia and our colors, blue and silver. As for our class project we plan to move the trophy display case from the first floor to the landing between the first and second floor, build- ing an entirely new case in that location for the trophies. We also in- tend to frame all the former Senior Class pictures which the school has in its posfession and place them on the walls of the library. Our scholastic record is not one that we need to be ashamed of. Our class has an average that is rated very high. Nine seniors took the scholastic test for the South Dakota University. Jimmy and Willis also took a Scholarship test offered by the Pepsi-Cola Company. These have been four very happy years, and though we go on, noth- ing can ever be able to replace our Freeman High School Days.
