“CLASS H I STORY In the fall of 1943 a group of 40 supposedly NGreeniesH entered the 'doors of the Freeman High School to begin their struggle to achieve the title of NSeniors of l947.N Twenty eight of the 40 now realize that their struggles were not in vain. After two weeks of Hanxiousw waiting we were initiated, and as a return for this so called reception, we gave the honorable seniorf a return party. Our class officers were: Pres. Willis wipf V. Pres. Denver Kaufman Sec. Irene Spomer Treas. Jeanne Kleinsasser Those who discontinued school were: Willie Haupt, Harold Knittle, Ellestine Schoppert, and Ruby Hafner. The waiters and waitresses for the Junior-Senior banquet were: Janet Schrag, Vilma Wipf, Idella Delzer, Irene Spomer, Kathleen Tscbetter Juel Hofer, Teddy Pidde, Willis Wipf, Duane Lipelt and Kenneth Schmuck. Upon the arrival of the Sophmore year, we felt worldly wise and looked with great pleasure upon the freshman initiation of that year. The members of our class that left this year were: Gladys Wek, Dona Howard, Sarah Mendel, Tobia Walters, Wilfred Schempp, Norma Mettler, and Kenneth Tschetter. Jimmy Smidt came from Menno to join our class. Our class officers were: Pres. Beverly Christensen V. Pres. Kenneth Schmuck Sec.k Treas. Denver Kaufman Jimmy was chosen to be one of our cheerleaders. Then came our Junior year, with all of its thrills and excitement. Our class officers were: Pres. Jimmy Smidt V. Pres. Willis Wipf Sec.a Treas. Denver Kaufman We presented the play HGoing on Seventeenv which generally speaking was quite a success. With the money taken in from this play, we gave the Seniors a banquet. The theme was NSouthern Fantasy.W This banquet gave us an opportunity to make use of cooperation. The mothers and Mrs. Hol- nate, our advisor, also showed a fine spirit, by cominq up and cooking the meal. The seniors, we believe, enjoyed the banquet. Four of the first ten of the basketball team were Juniors. It was with the help of these boys that the team won the County, District, and L. M. V. Conference title. Out of the 20 games played they had one de- quleat. The Junior Homemaking girls and Mrs. Holgate, our Home Economics teacher, attended a demonstration at Salem, Soth Dakota. Two of our Juniors, Jimmy and Willis, were members, of the student council. Jimmy was again elected to be one of our cheerleaders. We were well represented in music. All in all we had a very happy and long-to-be remembered Junior year.
