The spirit and enthusiasm in which the band played for both Presidential Candidates further proved the high degree of excellence of Freeland High School Band. The Freshman Band also showed their fine musical abilities by receiving an overall rating of “1”. Although the Freshman Band is comprised of only a few members, their diligence and enthusiasm again created another high-class band. Mr. Shephard, using endless patience and endurance has been able to produce a repertoire of First Rate Bands. 17 Administrators Duties Never Done Mr. Lloyd G. Lewis has been the acting superintendent of the Freeland School system for two years now. He is striving to restore a financial soundness to the school system, which is a very difficult task to do. With the support of the taxpayers our superintendent will be able to take steps in a positive direction to do just that. RTE y at HP ! e 2 P SE 3 ۹ 4 dr E 7 i ot D Me This year Mr. Dana B. Compton became the acting principal of Freeland High School. Mr. Compton served as Vice-Principal under Mr. Donald Rankin for a half of year. Mr. Rankin made a career change midway through the year and Mr. Compton was called on to be Principal for the remainder of the school year. Mr. Compton formerly a teacher at Freeland and also a recipient of the “Teacher of the Year Award has been striving to maintain a high level of excel- lence in not only in education but also in citizen- ship. A am —— —— For the second half of the 1980-81 school year we had the honor of having two assistant principals to help maintain the everyday problems of high school life. These men not only put in hours here but also had to fulfill their every day jobs at the middle and elementary school. We appreciate the time and help that these individuals gave us. Mr. Jack Curl from the middle school was here at the lunch hours which is probably one of the most hectic times of the day. Mr. Dan Cypher from the elementary school also spent time with us during the day. 3 The secretaries are the cutylist of the Freeland School's administrative duties. Paperwork, filing, typing, phone calling, errand runners, and sometimes even lunchroom monitors are some of their task's that must be performed by them. The ever working, ever cheerful secretaries could never be replaced. Freeland secretaries are Mrs. Sharon Young, Mrs. Elaine Miller, and Mrs. Lois Aldredge. . Being a member on the Freeland wrestling team is a enduring job. This sport does not receive the crowds in which the football or basketball games bring out. Other than parents and a few studen ts the stands remain bare. This gives the wrestlers one more challenge in every meet, and that is trying to keep that school spirit alive. The wrestlers put in long hours of training and are also on a diet for their entire season in order to maintain their weight class, this is endurance. Personal achievement is of vital importance in this sport. We hope that in the future our team will gain in spectators and also that necessary Falcon Spirit. Front row: (1 to r) M. Sherman, T. The team ended up 4th in the conference, a very good finish. The girls’ track team had a marvelous season, also. The girls trained long and hard and came up Class C Regional Champs.
