Student Council The Student Council, under the direction of Mr. John Timko, is a vital organization because it is through this organization that stu- dents have a voice in goveming their school. Each year two students are elected from each homeroom to represent their classmates in this association. This year Deborah Bogansky and Mark Firley were ap- pointed by the Student Council as representatives to the Luzeme In- termediate Unit 318 Advisory Council where they were instrumental in revising the Student Bill of Rights and Responsibilities. Dramatic A rts On April 18, 1975, at 7:00 P.M., three students fomi Freeland High School participated in the Sixteenth Annual Regional High School Dramatic Reading Festival which was held in the library of the Highacres Campus of the Pennsyl- vania State University. Participants were Anthony Lynn, who participated in the prose reading eompetitiong Sharon Budda, who placed fourth in the poetry reading competitiong and George Segon, who placed third in the drama reading com- petition. Vocational- Technzcal Traznmg The Hazelton Area Vocational-Techni- cal School has trained approximately 1130 students yearly for careers in tech- nical fields. Students involved in this field of study have benefited from the use of modem equipment and a job place- ment center which is one of the best in the area. 62
