JOKES AT RANDOM I shot an arrow into the air: it fell in the distance. I knew not where, till a neighbor said it killed his calf, and I had to pay him six and a half. I got some poison to slay some rats and a neighbor swore it killed his catsg and rather than argue across the fence, I paid him four dollars and fifty cents. One night I set sailing a toy balloon, and hoped it would reach the moong but the candle fell on the farmer's straw, and he said I must settle or go to law. And that is the way with the random shot: it never hits the proper spot: and the joke you spring that you think so smatt may leave a wound in some fellow's heart. Not to apologize, but to explain whv we haven't the best jolfes of F. H. S. in these columns. It is this. the b-est ones are run- ning around on two feet. Tho thank heaven you're stronger am. than I GEOMETRY STUDENTS PRAYER Now I lay me down to rest before I take that awful test, If I should die before I wake: oh joy! I'll have no test to take. Two colored men were standing on a street corner, discussing family trees: Yes, suh, man, said Ambrose, I can trace our family way back to a family tree. Chase 'em back to a family tree? ask- ed Mose. No, trace 'em. Well they is only two things what live in trees, birds and monkeys, and I don' see no feathers on you. Lynn: I Hunked this exam cold.
